My role as your doula...

I’m independently employed and hired directly by you. Please note that I am working only for you. I am not working for your care provider (gynecologist, midwife) or hospital. It’s important for you to understand that I cannot - and do not - guarantee a specific outcome for your birth. My goal is to help you have a satisfying birth as you define it. My role as a birth doula is to provide physical,  emotional, and informational support to women during their labor as well as encourage communication with the staff at the birthplace to ensure that you have the information needed to make informed decisions regarding your baby’s birth. All information you give to me I keep strictly confidential. It is not my place to - and I will not - judge or question your choices.

Doulas do not...

Doulas do not perform clinical tasks, such as vaginal exams, fetal heart rate, or blood pressure monitoring.

Doulas do not project their own values, beliefs, and goals onto the client and their family.

Doulas do not diagnose medical conditions, offer second opinions, or give medical advice.

Doulas do not speak to the medical staff on your behalf. Doula gives you the mic to amplify your voice.

Doulas do not make decisions for the client or suggest the right approach to medical issues.

Doulas do not deliver the baby. If a baby is born under doula's watch, the ambulance is called to further assist.

Doulas are not trained medical professionals, however, I have a recent First Aid for Newborns and Infants training certificate (obtained in May 2021).

Doulas do not take over the role from your partner, we reinforce the partner to support you better.
